The divas of the Fall Garden – the chrysanthemum. This fall plant comes in an array of colors and blooms that last for weeks. Because of their tight mounded habit and vast amount of bloom cover, these mums are ideal for mass plantings. They also make great container items.
This perennial has brilliant daisy-like flowers that brighten the fall garden. These starry-faced flowers act as pollinators for bees and attract butterflies. The aster has always been considered an enchanted flowers and was once believed would ward of evil spirits by burning their leaves.
The pretty face of the Montauk Daisy is a beautiful site in the fall garden. This daisy has unusal foliage with oval shaped leaves that are a deep glossy green. The Montauk, originating from Japan, received it’s name from the Montauk Lighthouse on Long Island. This plant is very hardy deters deer and insects but attracts butterflies.
