The first flower of “Spring”. We like to have these little beauties now as a transition from poinsettia season and leading into Easter and Spring, bringing you a burst of color into your home. These cheery little flowers will certainly help to chase away the dreary winter blues while patiently waiting for the warmer weather. While indoors, your primrose will need bright direct or indirect light. They need to be kept moist, but not overly so to avoid root rot. Therefore, water as soon as the top of the soil feels dry. They also like humidity while indoors. You can achieve this by placing on a pebble tray and optimum temperatures are between 50 – 65F.
Following our Primrose crop will be our beautiful bulb items. These will come in a variety of sizes and colors and are shipped direct to us from Holland. These Spring bulbs will provide some of the most dramatic color with very little effort! They are great planted in your landscape as well as container gardening. What a great way to add a splash of color to your front porch.
The official kick-off of Spring – the Easter Lily! A true American success story – prior to 1941, the majority of the Easter Lily bulbs were imported from Japan. They are now grown mainly right here in the United States in California. The star of the Easter Lily crop is the Nellie White with it’s large trumpet like blooms. The Easter Lily, referred to as the “white-robed apostles of hope” are the traditional flower to decorate churches and homes during the Easter celebration. They are the essence of Easter, symbolizing purity, virtue, hope and life.
